Esta foi a primeira caixa  da minha colecção. A minha professora da instrução primária, menina Arlette, deu-ma para eu brincar. Eu tinha sete anos.

As minhas filhas  gostam de abrir as caixas e descobrirem o que  lá está dentro.

Colecciono caixas pequenas mas também maiorzinhas. Simplifico muito as minhas prendas.

Capelas Imperfeitas - Mosteiro da Batalha

Túmulo de D.Duarte e D. Leonor de Aragão

D.João I mandou construir o Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória em agradecimento a Nossa Senhora, por ter vencido o numeroso exército castelhano,  na Batalha de Aljubarrota.

O Mosteiro da Batalha destaca-se pelo seu sinal de mudança na decoração, remate e acabamento.
Era  a exaltação da Dinastia de Aviz, com a protecção de Deus e da Virgem.

D. Duarte, filho primogénito de D. João I, cognominado O Eloquente, mas também conhecido pelo Rei Triste, seguiu fielmente todo sonho de seu pai, D.João I. Mas, desejou para ele o seu próprio espaço funerário, em vez de ficar junto dos outros infantes na Capela do Fundador.
Para isso mandou construir o Panteão de D. Duarte entregando a sua construção ao sucessor de Afonso Domingues, mestre Huguet.  As obras começaram em 1434. Em 1438 falecia D. Duarte e pouco tempo depois o próprio arquitecto, deixando-as incompletas.
Mateus Fernandes, no reinado de D.Manuel, foi o autor do magnífico Portal, um exemplo do mais feérico estilo manuelino. Neste reinado as obras foram interrompidas, de vez,  ficando a abóboda da cobertura por concluir.

As Capelas Imperfeitas repartem-se em sete capelas inscritas num octógono, sendo o oitavo lado, o portal manuelino.

D. Duarte, segundo os cronistas, foi um rei sisudo, com tendência a depressões, mas ao escolher  as Capelas desenhadas por mestre Huguet , acho que tinha uma alma iluminada.

Quem não conhece, devia fazê-lo e contemplar em êxtase toda esta obra arquitectónica  e conhecer um dos momentos históricos mais vibrantes de Portugal.

Voltei lá e o fascinio permanece. 

O Mosteiro da Batalha foi considerado em 07/07/2007 uma das sete maravilhas de Portugal. E podem ter a certeza que é mesmo uma maravilha.

Envolve-nos uma grande serenidade mística.  Não cessa o nosso deslumbramento.

Uma longa caminhada de regresso ao quotidiano, com os olhos cheios de sol, e o sussurro das ondas do mar na alma.
