Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Cabo, no Cabo Espichel, Sesimbra

Em meados do séc.XIV, foi construida uma ermida, para guardar a imagem da virgem que era muito venerada pelas populações locais e por grandes grupos de peregrinos, ou círios. Devendo-se ao Círio Saloio (oriundo das redondezas da capital) a construção do Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Cabo, no séc XVII.

Casa dos Círios

À volta da ermida foram crescendo casas modestas para receber os peregrinos. Em 1715 construiram-se as Casas dos Círios ou hospedarias que ficam de cada lado da igreja.

Casa da Água

A Casa da Água, foi construída em 1770 por iniciativa do rei D. José I. Foi uma obra muito importante para o Santuário levando até este,  através de um Aqueduto, água potável vinda de Azóia, uma aldeia próxima.

Ruínas da Casa da Ópera

Junto  às Casa dos Círios fica a Casa da Ópera, actualmente em ruínas.

A Casa da Ópera foi construída em 1770 e destinava-se a promover espectáculos, principalmente teatro, para os romeiros e até a família real que ali se deslocava. No seu palco actuaram os maiores artistas e grupos de teatro da Europa, sobretudo italianos.

Ermida da Memória (1410)

A lenda  conta que um casal de idosos teria visto a Virgem montada numa mula a subir  a escarpada falésia, tendo o seu trilho ficado marcado no seu percurso. A Capela foi construída em sua memória.

Afinal, essas pegadas  e rastos de cauda, foram identificados  mais tarde,  como sendo de dinossauros, impressas na rocha há milhões de anos. E lá continuam.

Farol

Consta que em 1430  a irmandade de Nossa Senhora do Cabo já tinha um farolim neste local.

Em 1790 foi inaugurado o actual farol que se modernizou ao longo do tempo.

Actualmente tem um alcance luminoso de quarenta e duas milhas náuticas, cerca de sessenta e sete quilómetros.

E, por último  a paisagem.
A profunda paz que só a imensidão do mar nos transmite.

Estorninhos

Quando os vemos voando rente às videiras quase sem folhas, já sabemos que o Inverno chegou. 

Ficam em Portugal de Outubro a Fevereiro.

Há duas espécies, o estorninho-malhado(sturnus vulgaris) que é permitido caçar, e o estorninho-preto (s. unicolor) que é protegido.

Nos campos, por enquanto sem flores, apenas alguns pontos de verde, eles deixam a sua marca.

Volto sempre à Ericeira. Desta vez para assinalar o fim das obras  no porto dos pescadores.

Conheço bem a Ericeira desde 1984 e sempre vi aquele porto meio destruído mas ainda com o farol.
Só tenho registo fotográfico a partir de 2006.

Em 1973 iniciou-se a construção  deste molhe mas os pescadores discordaram  logo do seu desenho por estar na "zona de pancada" do mar. E tinham razão porque em 1977  a força do mar partiu o molhe em dois. A partir daí o mar encarregou-se de destruir o que restava.

Em 2010, finalmente, os pescadores voltam a ter o seu porto de abrigo.
