Pede-se a uma criança. Desenhe uma flor! Dá-se-lhe papel e lápis. A criança vai sentar-se no outro canto da sala onde não há ninguém.

Passado algum tempo o papel está cheio de linhas. Umas numa direcção, outras noutras; umas mais carregadas, outras mais leves; umas mais fáceis, outras mais custosas. A criança quis tanta força em certas linhas que o papel quase que não resistiu.

Outras eram tão delicadas que apenas o peso do lápis já era demais.

Depois a criança vem mostrar essas linhas às pessoas: Uma flor!

As pessoas não acham parecidas estas linhas com as de uma flor!

Contudo, a palavra flor andou por dentro da criança, da cabeça para o coração e do coração para a cabeça, à procura das linhas com que se faz uma flor, e a criança pôs no papel algumas dessas linhas, ou todas. Talvez as tivesse posto fora dos seus lugares, mas são aquelas as linhas com que Deus faz uma flor!
